Nearly twenty years ago, she authored the bestselling book Green Babies, Sage Moms, published by Penguin Random House. Much like Washington Irving himself, Lynda spent many of her younger years traveling and living in Europe, where ancient folklore is deeply embedded in the culture—an experience that profoundly shaped her narrative and visual style. Her deep connection to the history and legends of the region stems from a rich, diverse career that includes years spent working as both a tour guide and an estate manager at some of Sleepy Hollow and Irvington's most iconic landmarks—including Washington Irving's Sunnyside and the Armour-Stiner Octagon House. A vital part of the local creative community, Lynda’s classical portraiture and fine art have frequently brought stories to life beyond the canvas, including major design collaborations for regional theater productions of Into the Woods and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. For many years I have been pulled to paint--and this has only happened since I moved to Sleepy Hollow Country.
I have the sense that the paintings want to come through, to be seen, that I am not working alone.
Art tells stories that words cannot... but viscerally. Magical realism reminds us that 'there are more things in heaven and Earth, than are dreamt of in our philosophy'.
